Joint Fixations

Reasons for Joint Dysfunction and Degenerative Changes

Joints are intended to move within their proper ranges of motion.

When joints are strained they can loose their balance of motion irritating the gliding surfaces and surrounding supportive tissues.

This slowly causes a wear and tear of cartilage effect which eventually results in degrees of arthritic degeneration.  This restriction of motion decreases the natural lubrication of the joints, called synovial fluid.  The cycle of cartilage wear and tear and lessening synovial fluid decreases the health of the joint.  This process can be occurring for months to years before discomfort and some degree of damage has already occurred.

If you’ve ever been in a car accident, played a sport, fell down or just bumped into something too hard, it’s very possible that you are not functioning at your best due to joint strain and resulting misalignment.

While there are many potential mechanical or structural causes for misalignment, there can also be chemical reasons. For instance, if you smoke or drink excessively or even just have a poor diet, the chemical issues in your body can eventually cause underlying conditions and disease to appear.

Chiropractic is based on the idea of removing imbalances both structural, postural and chemical,  allows our body to heal itself.   For this to happen the network of nerves and signals from your brain, down your spinal cord, to the network of nerves must be allowed to flow freely without any interruption.  Chiropractors have the ability and skill to remove these interruptions and/or misalignments and allow the body to perform as it was meant to.

No matter how long the damage has been occurring there is always hope for relief and healing to varying degrees.    Dr. Latimer can get you back on track both chemically and structurally to bring your body back to the proper state it should be in to perform at it’s peak.
